Instructions on Obtaining an Alumni Card

I. How to Get Alumni Borrowing Privileges?

1. Apply for a NCCU Alumni Card

An alumnus may apply for a NCCU Alumni Card at the Alumni Service Center located next to the Security Office at the main entrance of NCCU.
2. Pay deposit:

(1) Not apply to applicants with lifelong NCCU Alumni Cards.

(2) NT$3,000 is needed for applicants with general NCCU Alumni Cards. Please retain the receipt for the deposit of NT$3,000 (we suggest that you keep the receipt with your graduation certificate). You will need the receipt when you return your Alumni Library Card in the future.

3. Annul fee

Alumni can obtain one-year effective borrowing privileges with an annual fee.

4.Fill out the application form and submit to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Main Library. Then the NCCU Alumni Card will be viewed as a valid Alumni Library Card for borrowing and a new patron account will be created for library use.

5. Accepted Time:

During semester: 8:30-21:30, Monday-Sunday
Library Hours for winter/summer vacation will vary upon announcement on the library webpage.

II. Privileges of NCCU Alumni Card Owners in Library

1. Main Library 1F-4F and other Branches:

Owners of new edition of NCCU Alumni Cards can access the library directly, and owners of old edition of NCCU Alumni Cards can present them at the library entrance to pass through.

2. Main Library Underground Reading Area

Alumni can access to the B1 Reading area with the borrowing privilege and an annual fee However, during the university exam period, the Reading Area is not open for alumni.

3. The Information Searching Classroom is available to owners of NCCU Alumni Cards.

4. Owners of NCCU Alumni Cards without patron accounts (deposit not be paid) can not check out items.

III. Privileges and Obligations of NCCU Alumni Library Card Owners in Library

1. A maximum of 10 volumes is allowed for a loan period of three weeks. The loan period may be renewed for a maximum of two times for books not reserved by others. Alumni can log on patron account to renew checked out books, and please make sure whether the due date is changed successfully.

2. The loan period of home edition multimedia materials depends on the system, and not renewable. For more information on the usage of multimedia materials, please check Multimedia Service.

3. Overdue fines of books accrue at the rate of NT$5 per day per item, while overdue fines of home edition multimedia materials accrue at the rate of NT$50 per day per item.

4. If the books you want to borrow have been checked out, you may log on your patron account to reserve up to a maximum of 10 items. For more information on the borrowing rules, please check our policies.

5. Some databases are available to owners of NCCU Alumni Library Cards from the computers located within the library, and applicable payments of print are collected based on the undergraduate standards. To use databases outside campus, only free e-resource is available. Because of the contract, non-free e-resource is only available to NCCU students, employees, and faculty members.

IV. About Lost Items

If checked out items are lost, alumni have to inform the library actively. The library will assist alumni in the procedure of compensation. For more information, please check Guidelines for Compensation on Loss and Damage of Materials.

V. Return of NCCU Alumni Library Card

1. If owners do not use the alumni borrowing service anymore, please return all the checked out items and pay overdue fines.

2. Please personally take the receipt for the deposit to the Main Library, and fill out the Deposit Refund Form to cancel the patron account. The full deposit will be refunded without interest, while 10% of deposit will be deducted if owners return the Alumni Library Card within one year after the issued date.

3. The available time is 8:30-21:30, Monday to Friday during semester. Library Hours for winter/summer vacation will vary upon announcement on the library webpage.

4. Canceling of patron account will not damage the original privileges granted to NCCU Alumni Card Owners.

VI. Replacement of NCCU Alumni Library Card

Please replace a new NCCU Alumni Card at the Alumni Service Center at first, and bring it to NCCU Library to activate it.
